Here it is! Motor City HDJ’s furthest Michigan wedding. Sure, I’ve done a wedding in Nasvhille and a wedding in Pennsylvania, but this was a road trip/wedding weekend in beautiful Pure Michigan!

And I have to give a HUGE thank you to Jaime & Nick Keebaugh for getting me connected to this one. It’s because of them that Alaina and Randall shared their big weekend with Motor City HDJ!

The wedding took us all the way up to Frankfort, MI.

Yep…that is officially “Up North” by Mitten standards. 4 hours and some change. But there’s absolutely NOTHING to complain about with that drive. It’s absolutely gorgeous. Spending a weekend on Lake Michigan is all but rough.

When you’re out of town, the best way to get your morning started is with a continental breakfast. The favorite breakfast of DJs everywhere.
Naturally, this wedding was on the lake. I got to be involved with both the ceremony and the reception, so I was busy. But it was all worth it. The ceremony was right on the beach of one of the most beautiful pieces of land you’ll ever see. It was right out of a postcard.

Once the bride and groom were done exchanging vows, the party moved to the reception tent just up the hill.

The bridal made their way in to the tent to The Black Keys’ hit “Everlasting Light.” What an awesome jam to get started with!

After toasts and dinner, Alaina and Randall shared their first dance by dancing to “Fade Into You” by Mazzy Star. The bride brought her dad to the dance floor and “Into the Mystic” set the tone for their dance together. Finally, Randall and his mom danced to a mashup of “Somewhere Over the Rainbow” and “Simple Gifts” as played by Elizabeth Love. What a sweet set of tributes to these awesome people!

As if the night couldn’t get any better, the newlyweds also had a bluegrass band to share the time with me.

And to top it all off, my good friend Nick of Mammoth Booth was there! Did I mention that? Silliness ensued, as usual.
But what trip up north wouldn’t be complete without THE BEST chicken you’ve ever tasted. Yep…that’s right. We fell for it, folks. We just HAD to stop by Frankenmuth on the way back.
Thanks again to Alaina and Randall for letting Motor City HDJ share your big day with you. We love what we do, and we love it even more when we can do a destination wedding…right in Michigan!

We wish you the best of luck in everything! Congrats again!
