I've played schools, reception halls, private residences...but I've never played a museum. Put it on the bucket list, folks.

This absolutely perfect couple had me along for their TRUE Motor City wedding at the Detroit Historical Society & Museum in the heart of Downtown. If you've ever driven by the D.I.A. you've probably seen this place and didn't even know it. It's a hidden gem and I'm glad to have been there. Also, the first time I ever got to put the Malibu on a lift for load-in. Pretty sweet gig.

I took care of sound for both the ceremony and the reception.

The ceremony was upstairs in a rotunda encircled by artifacts from different decades of Detroit's history. Pretty cool view, if you ask me.
The ceremony was pretty succinct. Short, sweet, and to the point. There was a brief intermission for me to do a reset before we moved the party downstairs to the "Old Streets of Detroit." Oh...just wait. It gets sweeter.

During cocktail hour, guests were invited to tour the museum and check things out. Once we rounded them all up we made our way to the basement to move on with the reception. Now, this concept was cool: rolling dinner. I had never seen that done before but I was impressed with the execution of it. It keeps everyone on their feet and engaged with each other. Different stations of food with tables placed throughout the venue make for a very interesting arrangement. But it worked.

Also, this was the first event of 2014 to use the uplighting services that I offer.

I managed to do a quick browse of the museum before we got things started. But once we did, PHEW!! PAR-TEEE!
